As usual, we’re skimming Apartment Therapy and drooling over their various design ideas. A recent one struck us as a particularly great mixture of practical and cute: DIY bedroom projects collected from their featured tours. The post doesn’t include specific instructions, but darn it if we’re not inspired anyway. Here are a couple of our favorite ones:
Hang old window frames
This is such a simple way to add a little rustic décor. If you want to get really hardcore about it, you could always steal some windows from your childhood home and have an especially meaningful decorating effect. (Just kidding—for legal and, oh yeah, ethical reasons, we really can’t encourage theft.) Just beware of old wood and lead paint.
Make a bed frame out of pallets
Minimal, cheap, and a great way to keep your bed low to the floor without keeping it ON the floor. (We’ve heard rumors that a mattress-on-the-floor situation can get pretty gross because your bed can’t release all the moisture you sweat into it…)
Create your own photo collage
The post suggests making your own collages and then framing them; we suggest a slightly different approach. You probably have tons of family photos, either cluttering up shelves or just waiting for frames. I took a number and arranged them on the wall for an old employer of mine; the effect was a sporadic-but-aesthetically-pleasing array of pictures that worked well both as individual photos but also as a whole.
Make your own jewelry holder
I’ve actually done this one in the past. Earrings are easily scattered or tangled; gluing a little screen behind a picture frame keeps them both organized and on display.

MyNewPlace.com
My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on several websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
